SENIOR MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Duties:
|
Working within the Final Assembly value stream, this role is to design, improve, implement, monitor and maintain manufacturing processes, in order to meet the key operational performance objectives of health and safety, cost reduction, right first time and on time delivery.
- Organizing, planning, commissioning and maintaining production lines
- Improving existing operations through incorporating new methods and processes
- Handling equipment purchase and installation
- Investigating operational problems affecting production and dealing with them in a systematic and methodical manner
- Planning the use of resources and scheduling activities in order to meet an objective
- Preparing manufacturing documentation required for product manufacture
- Co-coordinating project
- Providing manufacturing data
- Holding and coordinating meetings with other team members
- Identifying ways to reduce production costsManaging budgets
- Working with engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs
- Liaising with research and development departments
- Play an active role in the introduction of ‘lean manufacturing’ including 5s events and value stream mapping
- Giving presentations to engineers and colleagues in other departments
- Liaising with suppliers and customers
- Training and supervising staff
- Working with regulatory bodies to ensure safety, environmental and design standards are met
- Keep up to date with the latest technological developments and trends within engineering.

Key Skills:

- Proven practical use of problem solving techniques
- Work study and activity sampling techniques
- Effective communication skills verbal / in writing at all levels of the business
- Minimum relevant HNC qualification
- Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and team working principles
- Champion the continuous improvement ethos
