Manufacturing Engineer
|

Duties:
|
Provide pre-production support for Operations through:
- Provide support for Engineering and other departments by establishing cost estimates, and manufacturing solutions for proposed projects.
- Develop Routings (manufacturing plans) for all new products or components, in order to ensure safe, effective, efficient and quality production processes.
- Carry out effective “Process” Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA’s), to identify, reduce or eliminate risks to proposed manufacturing methods and processes.
- Develop Standardised Work for all manufacturing processes, defining manufacturing methods and processes required to achieve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives.
- Incorporate Error Proofing (Poke Yoke) into manufacturing methods, wherever possible.
- Develop and maintain accurate Standard Times, for all manufacturing process, to assist with product costing, capacity and headcount management.
- Carry out effective Capacity Planning (CvsR) studies, highlight capacity shortfalls and identify ways to eliminate these.
- Undertake tooling studies and manage the sourcing of new tooling required to complete a project.
- Develop effective CNC programmes, as required.
Provide Manufacturing support through:
- Proactive support for manufacturing, to resolve daily production issues quickly.
- Follow up all concerns relating to equipment or process, by thoroughly investigating and resolving root causes.
- Continuously review existing processes to identify and eliminate waste using Lean
Manufacturing methodologies.
- Implement Quick Change Over’s (SMED) for all bottleneck equipment.
Provide support for Continuous Improvement through:
- Project Manage improvements to processes, facilities and equipment, to ensure the project goals are delivered on time.
- Review current production methods and processes to indentify and implement the most appropriate method of manufacture, that best support the Operations Strategic Plan.
- Review the latest technology available from machinery and tooling suppliers, and asses the suitability of new technologies for current and future manufacturing needs.
- Support all aspects of improvement projects, from developing process specifications, and preparing the business case, through to final installation and commissioning.
- Review Value Stream Maps, work balance and layouts to develop and implement improvements to the production flow.

Key Skills:
|
- Minimum HNC and significant relevant experience engineering environment
or Degree with experience in production engineering
- Contribution to Improvement processes with personal experience of delivering Lean methodologies
